Solidigm, SK hynix’s NAND and SSD business, is adding a contract-manufacturing site in Taiwan for data-center SSDs. : - New site: Last month it sent customers a product-change notice that it is adding an ODM site in Taiwan for data-center SSDs. Shipments start in December on the same terms as existing products. - Partners: Solidigm has no NAND fab of its own in Taiwan and outsources part of production. Powertech and Pegatron are known partners; the new site adds to that network. - Purpose: Closer ties to the AI server supply chain. SSDs are assembled with GPUs into servers, then delivered to data centers. Taiwanese makers—Foxconn, Quanta, Wistron, Wiwynn, Inventec, and Gigabyte—account for more than 90% of global AI server shipments. - Local investment: Solidigm has invested NT$16 billion (about ₩680 billion) in Nanya Technology to secure DRAM for SSDs locally. - Other expansion: A new NAND fab, M17, in Cheongju (about ₩80 trillion, targeted for 2029), plus an expansion of the second Dalian plant. It is also weighing a first U.S. NAND fab and an IPO that could value the company at up to $150 billion. - Demand: Combined enterprise-SSD revenue at the top five suppliers hit $37.6 billion in the second quarter, doubling in three months. SK hynix, including Solidigm, held 21.1%, behind Samsung at 35.1%. The average NAND price in September was $30.61, about eight times the level a year earlier.
