China’s online leftists seem to have this delusion that they can somehow defy human nature and conquer complex, chaotic systems. They genuinely believe that if they, the supposedly morally superior ones, were in power, they could wield absolute authority to create a society where everyone is equal and prosperous. But just look at those Chinese liberal dissidents who move to America and end up worshipping Trump. Look at what happens when communists get into power and proceed to exploit an entire nation and its people. Without guaranteed democracy, individual freedoms, and universal suffrage, revolutions and authoritarian rule will always end up doing the same thing: enslaving the very people they claim to liberate.
