Starlink just stopped being a patch for dead zones. SpaceX agreed to buy a nationwide low-band spectrum portfolio in the US, with a stated goal: make Starlink a major mobile carrier. Until now, satellite internet filled gaps where towers couldn't reach. With terrestrial spectrum, it's competing for the same licenses as traditional cellular networks. The hard part isn't more satellites. It's seamless handoff on your phone. Nobody cares where the signal comes from, only whether it drops.
