Li Xian for CHAGEE ⎯ director’s cut 🏔️ #LiXian #李现 #리시엔 Our filming schedule was incredibly tight, and the mountainous terrain and ever-changing weather added another layer of uncertainty to the production. Before and after filming, we found ourselves saying more than once, “Thank goodness it was Li Xian.” He was completely immersed in the work from beginning to end. He placed his full trust in us and worked seamlessly with the team through every last-minute adjustment, on-site rearrangement, and creative experiment. That trust made all the difference, allowing us to capture shots and execute scene transitions that would have been difficult to achieve under such tight time constraints. To encounter an actor like him is a rare kind of luck and a genuine joy. Before filming, I remember asking our producer, “Could we get some rain for the next scene?” He replied, “Getting rain isn’t the hard part. The real question is whether we’ll still get to capture the golden glow of sunlight on the mountain peaks once the rain has passed.” I answered, “We have Li Xian on our side.” In our final scene, we stood together on a platform atop the mountain, watching the clouds and mist gradually part in the distance. Slowly, Yunnan revealed itself before our eyes once more. That is a moment I believe I’ll carry with me for a long, long time.
