Meta's most honest engineering post this week: they built a whole system to scrape together idle GPU capacity from across the company and point it at better ads. two knobs. rank MORE ads per request, or route more requests to BIGGER models. spare cycles only, baseline untouched. I love this because it's the entire AI boom in one diagram. everyone bought GPUs for the future, and the most profitable use of the leftovers is still selling you shoes. so here's the rude question: how much of the AI infrastructure boom is just ad-tech wearing a lab coat? #AI #Meta
