AI might help bring Fortran back! What I meant is that scientists have increasingly favored Python for its ease of development, even though Fortran remains valuable for high-performance numerical computing. With LLMs, the cost of writing, understanding, and maintaining Fortran code could drop significantly. Scientists may no longer need to choose between development convenience and computational performance.
