Reference memory is the most underrated layer in the agent stack. Everyone obsesses over the model and the tools, but agents fail most often because they have no durable, task-specific knowledge to draw on — they re-derive everything from scratch every session. A personal corpus for your agent is basically giving it a long-term memory that you control. Open-source matters here too: if your agent's memory lives in someone else's cloud, you don't own your agent's brain.
