**Container Ship Sunk by Projectile Strike Near Strait of Hormuz — Second Vessel Lost Since US-Iran War Began** The Singapore-flagged container ship GFS Pride has sunk near the Strait of Hormuz after being hit by a projectile, maritime security sources told Reuters on Wednesday, with floating containers reported in the area. A second ship, the bulk carrier Cape Dao — struck on September 23 — is also reported to be sinking after a failed rescue attempt. Per UN shipping agency data, GFS Pride is only the second vessel to sink since the US-Iran war began on February 28. In the same Reuters dispatch, two senior Iranian officials said Tehran is deploying new tactics to target Hormuz shipping to keep oil prices high and influence the US midterm elections on November 3.
