$ASX Lightmatter CEO Nick Harris confirmed on Oct. 13 that the CPO chip it showed at OCP was assembled in Taiwan by ASE Technology (3711 TT). He laid out the Taiwan side of the build for local reporters: Global Unichip (3443 TT) on custom ASICs, TSMC on foundry and packaging, ASE on system and packaging, Browave (3163 TT) on fiber connectivity. Lightmatter's vClick fiber connector works with mold-and-grind packaging and uses passive alignment, which cuts the long assembly time of active alignment. With CPO samples in 2027 and hyperscale shipments in 2029, ASE is the packaging house carrying Lightmatter's engines into volume.
