Hyperscalers aren't just buying power anymore. They're paying to create it. Google + Georgia Power: Google will fund ~96 MW of uprates at Plants Hatch and Vogtle — squeezing more output from four existing reactors instead of waiting decades for new ones. The structure is the story: Google pays a subscription fee on top of its power bill (new NU-1 tariff), gets zero-emission credits toward its 2030 carbon-free goal. Georgia Power projects ~$900M in customer benefits over the units' lives — other ratepayers shielded from the cost. Second such deal in a month: Google also backed 890 MW of Constellation uprates across Illinois, NJ and Pennsylvania. The pattern: existing nuclear is the fastest clean baseload you can buy. Uprates take ~5 years; new plants take decades. When the grid queue is 5–8 years, you don't build — you uprate. Who funds the next 96 MW? $GOOGL $SO $CEG #AI #Nuclear #DataCenters
