Tower / Semtech company release Oct 13: $TSEM and $SMTC expanded a multi-year SiGe pact. Semtech is putting capital into dedicated silicon-germanium capacity at Tower fabs in the US, Israel, and Japan for AI data-center optical and copper interconnect parts. Company line: the reserved wafers back existing design wins and the jump from 800G / 1.6T into 3.2T. Same release says the Semtech 224 Gbps-per-lane TIA family for linear pluggable optics, built on Tower SiGe, took an ECOC 2026 optical-component award. No dollar size on the capacity lock, no end-customer names. Next watch is whether that reserved SiGe shows up in interconnect shipments as the 1.6T and 3.2T wave actually ships.
