Courage Compounds: Why Acting Before Certainty Is an Unfair Advantage The internet has made information cheap. Most tactics are searchable. Most frameworks are public. AI can explain almost any concept, summarize any playbook and generate a reasonable first draft in seconds. Yet people are not becoming equally successful. Why? Because the gap is moving. The old advantage was knowing something other people didn’t. The new advantage is being willing to act on what everyone already knows—before certainty, approval or applause arrives. Most people don’t lack ideas. They lack the willingness to send the message, make the ask, publish the imperfect work, enter the room or risk hearing “no.” I call this Courage Compounds. Courage is not a personality trait that some people are born with. It is a repeated behavior that creates assets over time. The first brave action may produce nothing. The second makes rejection feel less personal. The tenth gives you real feedback. The hundredth leaves you with relationships, skills, stories, opportunities and evidence that a more cautious person never accumulated. Courage compounds for three reasons. 1. Action manufactures information. You can think about a market for six months and still know less than someone who made ten offers and heard ten real objections. Movement creates data that planning cannot. 2. Visibility creates luck. Nobody can choose you if they don’t know what you want, what you believe or what you can build. Publishing, asking and participating increase the surface area for opportunity. 3. Rejection trains recovery. A “no” is painful when it is rare. After enough honest attempts, it becomes information. You stop treating rejection as a verdict on your identity and start treating it as routing. This is not an argument for recklessness. Real courage respects boundaries. It tells the truth. It takes reversible risks whenever possible. It offers value before demanding attention. It never uses bravery as an excuse to harass people, fake results or gamble away responsibilities. I’m going to test this idea publicly from Shanghai. For 100 days, I will do one thing each day that feels slightly uncomfortable but potentially valuable: contact someone I normally wouldn’t, make a thoughtful public ask, publish a strong opinion, propose a collaboration, or ship something before it feels perfect. Some attempts will fail. Good. Failure is part of the dataset. The goal is not to become fearless. The goal is to build evidence that I can move while fear is present. Every brave act gives your future self more options. That is how courage compounds. #CourageCompounds #BuildInPublic #蓝V互关 #蓝V交友
