Reuters Oct 15: US semiconductor stocks were set to lose about 2 trillion dollars in market value on Thursday, extending the steep selloff since last week. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index was last down 3.3%, stacking on a 1.64 trillion dollar wipeout over the prior six sessions. Reuters ties it to rising rate-hike bets and worry about the cost of the AI buildout. CNBC same day: memory took some of the worst damage. Over five sessions SK Hynix was down about 26%, Samsung about 22%, and $MU around 11%. Next watch is whether the six-session draw keeps extending once the next AI capex names report, or the financing scare fades first.
