You did not have to click the ad. Citizen Lab just published the first public confirmation of zero-click mercenary spyware delivered through targeted ads. Devices at Al Jazeera were infected. The company behind it had appeared on vendor lists maintained by Google and IAB Europe. This is not about careless users. It is about an ad system that failed to check who it was serving.
