On Monday morning, I lost a battle—against a pair of shoes. The alarm went off three times; I hit "dismiss" four times. I grabbed a pair of shoes and bolted out the door. By the time I reached the tram stop, my left foot felt squeezed, while my right foot felt loose. I looked down— On my left foot: a black work shoe from the shop. On my right foot: a white sneaker I’d just washed yesterday. Two shoes, two different lives. The manager stared at me for three seconds, then remarked, "A 'limited edition' look? Black and white—quite the fashion statement." Just as I was about to retort, he added, "Make sure to swap them out by noon; the black ones are 20% off today." The whole shop burst into laughter. I retreated to the changing room and snapped a photo of my "limited edition" pair. *Click.* Have you ever walked out the house wearing the wrong shoes?
