Last Thursday in Santa Monica, Julia Cai and I spent an evening at LA Tech Week talking about what it takes to build a company in the age of AI. Thank you, Chief for sponsoring the event! Julia shared what shes built with Banjo AI and how technology can help people live a fulfilling life. I shared what it looks like to run a coaching and writing business as a one-person company, with AI agents doing real work. We both got specific about the AI tools we use and the challenges of running a business with them. The lessons learned section was the one people leaned in for. Every one of those lessons came with a bit of resilience attached. Both our companies are still growing, and we grew right along with every lesson. What made my night was seeing the room respond. Hearing two women founders talk openly about building encouraged others, especially women, to step up and lead. Thank you to everyone who came out and asked such good questions.
