#JoyfulParentChildConversations It was 3:30 a.m., and my youngest son was still awake. I woke up and noticed the TV flickering in the living room. Holding back a million waves of heartache and frustration, I gently said to him: Sweetheart, Mommy knows you had a really tough day with your O-Level English exams. You must feel so relieved now that they’re over. But it’s getting really late. How about we go to your room, lie down, and chat about your four hours of exams today? Did anything funny happen? 🥰😝 To my delight, my son gave me a wonderfully enthusiastic response, practically a 100-word five-star review! And I was rewarded with an absolutely hilarious story: During the exam, a Malay classmate was using a highlighter. Suddenly, the cap accidentally flew off and landed right next to my son’s foot. My son left it there for the entire 1 hour and 50 minutes. The moment the exam-ending bell rang, he calmly bent down, picked up the cap, and returned it to the Malay boy. 110 minutes of self-control. One tiny highlighter cap. And a perfectly timed act of kindness. 🤣❤️
