Why doesn't Anthropic have an image model? Half a million views on that question. Here's my answer. It's not that they can't build one. It's that they don't want to. Image generation is where the copyright lawsuits live. Getty vs Stability. Every cute anime girl your model draws is a training-data receipt waiting for a subpoena. And Anthropic? They're the lab begging regulators for binding rules. Dario literally told Bloomberg customers "aren't clamouring" for image gen. Translation: enterprises don't pay for waifu generators. 300,000 enterprise clients. 77% business usage. The image crowd never signs a contract. So they picked the clean-hands brand over the creative internet. Claude reads your images. It just won't draw them. Meanwhile OpenAI, Google, and xAI all ship image models. The creative stack is going multimodal or it's going nowhere. Claude can write your novel. It can't draw the cover. Is that discipline, or is Anthropic just scared of the lawsuits?
