🐱🌋🏹 MONSTER HUNTER 2 (DOS) — CHAPTER 29: THE EASY TARGET! GRAVIOS!!! 🐉🔫🤣 After arriving in the volcanic region… I had discovered my true calling. MINING!!! ⛏️💎 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Forget hunting monsters! I was too busy running around the volcano collecting minerals and stockpiling free Cold Drinks! Iron Ore! Machalite Ore! Firestone! And anything else I could get my hands on! CLANG!!! CLANG!!! CLANG!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! But eventually… I remembered something. OH, RIGHT!!! THIS IS MONSTER HUNTER!!! I'M SUPPOSED TO HUNT MONSTERS!!! 🤣🤣🤣 And so, I finally turned my attention toward one of the volcano's enormous inhabitants. GRAVIOS!!! 🐉🪨 A gigantic, heavily armored wyvern. Covered in thick rocky plating. Capable of unleashing devastating heat attacks. And honestly? When I first saw it, I thought… THIS THING LOOKS TERRIFYING!!! 💀 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! But as it turned out… GRAVIOS WAS SURPRISINGLY EASY FOR ME!!! 🌚 🪨 THE GIANT ROCK DRAGON!!! Gravios was enormous. Seriously! LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THIS THING!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Compared to some of the smaller monsters I'd fought before, Gravios looked like an absolute fortress. Thick armor! Massive body! Huge wings! And a terrifying heat beam! FWOOOOOOOSH!!! 🔥 Definitely not something you'd want to stand directly in front of! But there was something interesting about this monster. Something that made hunting it much more convenient than I'd expected. IT WAS INCREDIBLY PREDICTABLE!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! At least, that's how I remember my hunts. Unlike the Shogun Ceanataur… Which seemed determined to run across the entire map every five seconds… Gravios was usually hanging around roughly the same area! THE SAME PLACE!!! AGAIN!!! AND AGAIN!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh, this was wonderful! 📍 WAIT… YOU'RE STILL HERE?! Remember my nightmare with the Shogun Ceanataur? I'd find it. Fight it. Watch it run away. Chase it into another area. Deal with the freezing caves. Find it again. And then… IT WOULD RUN AWAY AGAIN!!! 🦀💨 Until eventually… TIME UP!!! ⏳💀 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! But Gravios? Oh, Gravios was different. I'd run over to the area where I expected to find it. And there it was! Sometimes looking like an enormous pile of rocks. I'd approach. And… RUMBLE!!! 🪨 Up it came! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! HELLO AGAIN!!! READY FOR ANOTHER HUNT?! 🤣🤣🤣 No ridiculous marathon across the map. No endless hide-and-seek. No spending half the quest chasing a monster that refused to stay still. Just… GO TO THE AREA!!! FIND GRAVIOS!!! START SHOOTING!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! NOW THIS IS MY KIND OF HUNT!!! 🌚 🏹 THE BOW!!! And this time, I had another weapon ready. THE BOW!!! 🏹 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I'd already spent plenty of time using the Hammer, Great Sword, Light Bowgun, and Heavy Bowgun throughout my adventure. But against Gravios? The Bow was incredibly convenient! Especially when I used… PIERCE SHOTS!!! Because Gravios had one very important feature. A HUGE BODY!!! And I knew exactly where I wanted to aim. THE BELLY!!! 🎯 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I'd position myself. Draw the bow. Aim toward that enormous stomach. And… THWIP!!! 🏹 Piercing arrows! Again! THWIP!!! And again! THWIP!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! TAKE THAT!!! RIGHT IN THE BELLY!!! 🤣🤣🤣 With such a large target, I could keep attacking without constantly struggling to land hits on a tiny, fast-moving monster. And that made the whole experience surprisingly comfortable! 🔫 OR MAYBE I'LL USE THE LIGHT BOWGUN!!! But of course… I wasn't going to limit myself to just one weapon! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Because by this point, I'd become quite comfortable switching weapons depending on what I wanted to do. And I still had another favorite. THE LIGHT BOWGUN!!! 🔫 More specifically… RAPID-FIRE PIERCE AMMO!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Remember that weapon setup? I'd already used it during my battles against Kushala Daora. And now? It was time to put it to work against Gravios! I'd find the monster. Get into position. Aim at its enormous body. And… RATATATATATATATA!!! 🔫🔥 PIERCE AMMO!!! RAPID FIRE!!! KEEP SHOOTING!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! TAKE THAT, YOU GIANT ROCK!!! 🤣🤣🤣 And honestly? It worked beautifully for my hunting style. 🏹 BOW OR LIGHT BOWGUN? WHY NOT BOTH?! Sometimes I'd use the Bow. Other times I'd use the Light Bowgun. I'd switch between them whenever I felt like it! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! There wasn't some dramatic reason. I wasn't desperately searching for a weapon that could finally defeat Gravios. I ALREADY KNEW I COULD BEAT IT!!! I was simply choosing whichever weapon I felt like using that day. TODAY? BOW!!! 🏹 THWIP!!! THWIP!!! THWIP!!! Tomorrow? LIGHT BOWGUN!!! 🔫 RATATATATATATATA!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! And Gravios? STILL THE SAME UNFORTUNATE TARGET!!! 🐉💀 🤣🤣🤣 It was almost unfair. A monster that looked so heavily armored… So intimidating… So powerful… And yet, from my perspective? IT WAS ONE OF THE MOST CONVENIENT MONSTERS TO FARM!!! 🔥 BUT WHAT ABOUT THE HEAT BEAM?! Of course, Gravios wasn't completely harmless. Let's not forget… THIS THING COULD FIRE A MASSIVE HEAT BEAM!!! 🔥 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! And getting caught by that attack was definitely not something I wanted! But because I was fighting from a distance… And because I had become comfortable with its general behavior… I found the fight much easier to manage. I didn't need to stand directly in front of its face swinging a hammer. I didn't need to chase it around endlessly. And I didn't need to keep getting pushed away by some ridiculous wind barrier! SORRY, KUSHALA DAORA!!! 🌪️🤣 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Instead, I could focus on positioning. Watch its movements. Find opportunities. And keep firing piercing attacks into that enormous body. THWIP!!! RATATATATA!!! THWIP!!! RATATATATA!!! QUEST COMPLETE!!! 🎉 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! 🏆 WAIT… THAT WAS EASY?! And when Gravios finally went down… I remember thinking something like… "HUH?" "THAT WASN'T SO BAD!!!" 🤣🤣🤣 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Seriously! After everything I'd been through… The Bulldrome. The Yian Kut-Ku. The Plesioth. The White Monoblos. The Shogun Ceanataur. The Kirin. And Kushala Daora… I was expecting the volcano to introduce another terrible nightmare! But Gravios? SURPRISINGLY EASY!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! And then I realized something. If it was this easy… And if I could find it so conveniently… And if I already had two weapons that worked well against it… WHY NOT HUNT IT AGAIN?! 🌚 🔁 THE GREAT GRAVIOS FARMING OPERATION!!! And so… I did exactly that. ANOTHER HUNT!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Run to the familiar area! Find Gravios! Watch it get up! Aim for the belly! THWIP!!! RATATATATATATA!!! QUEST COMPLETE!!! Collect materials! Return to the village! And then… ANOTHER HUNT!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Again! And again! And again! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! The routine became incredibly familiar. Sometimes I'd bring my Bow. Sometimes I'd bring my Light Bowgun. But the result? MORE GRAVIOS MATERIALS!!! And the best part? I was actually enjoying myself! No desperate struggle. No endless frustration. No screaming at the timer. Just a big armored monster… And a hunter who had discovered a very convenient way to defeat it. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! 🌚 I THINK I STARTED BULLYING IT!!! At some point… I realized something. I WASN'T REALLY CHALLENGING GRAVIOS ANYMORE!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I was farming it! Repeatedly! And quite happily! It was almost like I'd found a very reliable source of materials. Except that source happened to be… A GIANT LIVING ROCK DRAGON!!! 🪨🐉 🤣🤣🤣 Imagine Gravios's perspective. It's resting peacefully in the volcano. Then suddenly… Footsteps. A familiar hunter appears. GRAVIOS: "Oh no…" ME: "HELLO AGAIN!!!" 😈 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! GRAVIOS: "Didn't you already defeat me yesterday?!" ME: "YES!!!" GRAVIOS: "THEN WHY ARE YOU BACK?!" ME: "MATERIALS!!!" 🌚 THWIP!!! RATATATATATATATA!!! 🤣🤣🤣 POOR GRAVIOS!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! ⛏️ THE VOLCANO WAS BECOMING MY FAVORITE WORKPLACE! And the funniest part? Remember what I'd been doing before I started hunting Gravios? MINING!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! So now I had an even better routine. Explore the volcano! Collect useful minerals! Make use of available Cold Drinks! Find Gravios! Shoot Gravios! Collect Gravios materials! Return to the village! REPEAT!!! 🤣🤣🤣 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! The volcano had practically become my personal resource collection center. Minerals? YES!!! ⛏️ Cold Drinks? YES!!! 🧊 Monster materials? YES!!! 🐉 Everything I wanted! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! At this point, I wasn't sure whether I was a hunter… A miner… Or the manager of some extremely aggressive volcanic supply company.
