i got tired of re-teaching my coding agent the same rules every session. tests first. review your own diffs. keep secrets out of commits. then i found ECC — affaan mustafa's open-source harness for claude code. 286k stars. and it's not another agent. it's the discipline layer around the agent. what's actually inside (readme counts, verified this week): 1. 71 specialist subagents — planner, architect, tdd guide, code reviewer, security reviewer, per-language build fixers. claude delegates instead of cramming everything into one context window. 2. 311 skills — tdd, security review, e2e testing, plus deep packs for django, spring boot, next.js, rust, go. 3. hooks + rules that enforce things outside the prompt. my favorite: it flags a console.log left behind after an edit. 4. a memory vault — sessions get distilled into summaries and "instincts" with confidence scores, so yesterday's lessons carry into today. 5. agentshield — scans your prompts, hooks, mcp configs and permissions for holes before your agent touches the shell. the loop it bakes in: plan → test → implement → review → verify → remember → improve. one install and every session follows that order. my cold take: the trap is installing 311 skills you never audit. more tools ≠ a better agent — you just handed claude a toolbox you never looked inside. ecc's own motto is "optimize the context window," yet the catalog grew by 50 skills in two months. audit what you install, or the discipline layer becomes the bloat layer. who it's for: anyone who uses claude code daily and is sick of repeating themselves. not for you if you haven't mastered vanilla claude code yet — learn the engine before bolting on the harness. so here's my question: does your agent need 71 specialists, or does it need you to finally write a decent spec? i'm starting to think the bottleneck was never the model. 🔵 Fellow Premium members, let's connect!
