Claude's apps stop asking before every step next week. Per the Claude account, new sessions on web, desktop and mobile will default to auto mode on Pro, Max and Team. You can still switch back to Manual. Claude Code went first in August. Anthropic said that in its testing, the auto check caught 89% of dangerous commands while manual approval caught 14%. I believe that gap. Nobody reads the 40th approval prompt of a session carefully. The apps carry a different kind of risk though. A bad shell command in a repo can usually be rolled back with git. An email sent from your connected inbox stays sent. One line in the help center table is worth reading before the switch. In Auto, a connector tool you set to "Needs approval" becomes "Claude decides". Only "Blocked" still stops it in every mode. Anthropic's own guidance says to stay close, or go back to Manual, for money, messages sent as you and important files. So my plan is to leave Auto on for research and file work, and set the send actions on email and Slack to Blocked, or run those tasks in Manual. On Team, admins can turn the Auto default off in org settings. Enterprise stays on Manual by default. Which of your connectors can send things as you? https://x.com/i/status/2113360845409583307
