๐ฑ๐๐ THE MOST FEARSOME BANDIT IN THE FOREST THE BANDIT KING CHAPTER 10: THE KING'S DIPLOMATIC GAMBIT โ๏ธโ๏ธ CREATED BY: The Fool (@ChenY60787) CO-CREATOR: @NearPump Previously... The Bandit King had acquired his first chancellor. Lucien Vale established a functioning treasury, reformed the supply station, and prevented His Majesty from eating the entire national budget. For the first time, the kingdom was financially stable. But prosperity attracts attention. And far beyond the Northern Forest, the Silverriver Principality had begun watching. A KINGDOM BUILT ON FISH WAS ABOUT TO ENTER THE WORLD OF INTERNATIONAL POLITICS. ๐ 1. AN INVITATION FROM SILVERRIVER "GENERAL!!!" A messenger rushed into headquarters. "A diplomatic delegation has arrived!" The blue-haired general looked up. "From Lord Blackthorn?" "No, General." He presented a silver-sealed letter. "From the Silverriver Principality." Lucien Vale immediately recognized the seal. "...Interesting." The general unfolded the letter. To His Majesty, the Bandit King. Her Grace, Duchess Evelyne Silverriver, extends an invitation to establish formal commercial relations. Our delegation requests an audience to discuss investment, transportation rights, and mutual prosperity. The general smiled. "His Majesty's influence has reached beyond the forest!" The kitten looked up from his cushion. "Meow?" Translation: Did they bring fish? ๐ 2. THE DUCHESS'S OFFER Three days later, an elegant delegation entered the royal hall. At its head stood Duchess Evelyne Silverriver herself. She had decided that a matter involving Lucien Vale deserved her personal attention. "Your Majesty." She bowed gracefully before the tiny orange kitten. "I have heard extraordinary things about your kingdom." The kitten stared at her. Then at the beautifully wrapped gift beside her. His ears perked up. FISH?! โจ๐ Evelyne smiled. "A diplomatic gift. The finest preserved river fish in our principality." The kitten immediately jumped onto the table. "MEOW!!!" The general gasped. "His Majesty welcomes your delegation!" Lucien quietly muttered: "...Of course he does." ๐ฐ 3. THE PRICE OF GENEROSITY Evelyne placed a proposal on the table. "Silverriver will finance three new supply stations." "We will provide merchant vessels, experienced engineers, and access to our river ports." "In return, we request exclusive management rights over the new stations for fifteen years." The general's smile disappeared. Lucien adjusted his glasses. "Exclusive management rights?" "Naturally," Evelyne replied. "We would be assuming considerable financial risk." Lucien examined the document. "Your Grace, these stations would connect the Northern Forest to your river network." "Correct." "And all commercial traffic passing through them would depend on Silverriver's administration." Evelyne smiled. "An efficient arrangement, wouldn't you agree?" Lucien closed the document. "EFFICIENT FOR SILVERRIVER." The room fell silent. โ๏ธ 4. BLACKTHORN'S COUNTERMOVE Before negotiations could continue, another messenger arrived. "GENERAL! A SECOND DELEGATION!" The doors opened. A knight bearing Lord Blackthorn's crest entered. He presented a sealed letter. To the Bandit King. In accordance with our provisional trade agreement, the Blackthorn Dominion proposes joint protection of northern roads. We offer military escorts, reduced passage fees, and access to additional routes. In return, the Bandit Kingdom must guarantee that no foreign power obtains exclusive control of its supply network. Evelyne raised an eyebrow. "How thoughtful of Lord Blackthorn." Lucien smiled faintly. "He seems very interested in preserving regional stability." The general studied both proposals. One side offers capital. The other offers security. Both want influence over our kingdom. And on the throne... The kitten was attempting to open his second box of fish. โ๏ธ 5. THE CHESSBOARD OF KINGS That evening, the general and Lucien met privately. "We cannot afford to antagonize both powers," the general said. "Agreed," Lucien replied. "But accepting either proposal without revision would weaken our independence." The general studied the map. "Blackthorn controls the northern roads." "Silverriver controls access to the river ports." Lucien placed two coins on the table. "Each fears the other gaining too much influence." He placed a third coin between them. "And our supply network sits at the intersection." The general's eyes widened. "Then we can negotiate with both!" "Carefully," Lucien replied. "If we appear to be playing them against each other, they may decide we're a threat to both." The general nodded. "Then we must offer cooperation without surrendering control." Lucien smiled. "Precisely." From behind them came a tiny voice. "Meow!" They turned. The kitten had knocked the third coin off the table. The general gasped. "His Majesty rejects dependence on either side!" Lucien stared at the fallen coin. "...He was chasing a fish-shaped reflection." ๐ 6. THE KING'S THIRD OPTION The next morning, both delegations assembled. Evelyne expected a counteroffer. Blackthorn's envoy expected guarantees. Instead, Lucien presented an entirely new proposal. THE NORTHERN OPEN TRADE CHARTER. "Silverriver may invest in new stations and operate commercial services." "Blackthorn may provide road security and receive agreed compensation." "But neither party will possess exclusive control over the network." Evelyne frowned. "Then what guarantees our investment?" Lucien replied: "Public contracts, audited accounts, defined revenue shares, and enforceable commercial obligations." Blackthorn's envoy asked: "And our territorial sovereignty?" The general answered: "Recognized. No station will operate inside your territory without an agreement." Evelyne studied the charter. "So you intend to remain independent." Lucien nodded. "And give both sides a reason to profit from that independence." The kitten suddenly climbed onto the charter. "MEOW!!!" His tiny paw landed directly between the two signatures. The general smiled. "His Majesty approves the balance of interests." Lucien whispered: "...He approves the fish stain." ๐ 7. A DUCHESS WHO SEES TOO MUCH The negotiations ended without an immediate final agreement. Both delegations agreed to take the revised charter home for consideration. As Evelyne prepared to leave, she approached Lucien. "Tell me something." "Of course, Your Grace." "Why did you refuse the trading houses of Silverriver..." "...only to serve a cat?" Lucien looked toward the throne. The kitten was asleep. His crown had slipped over one eye. "Because I saw an opportunity." "To become wealthy?" "Perhaps." "To gain power?" "Possibly." "Then what?" Lucien smiled. "To build something that doesn't exist yet." Evelyne followed his gaze. "A kingdom?" "A system in which capable people can create prosperity together." She studied the sleeping kitten. "And you believe that creature can lead it?" Lucien paused. "I BELIEVE HE HAS ALREADY BROUGHT THE RIGHT PEOPLE TOGETHER." For the first time, Evelyne looked genuinely intrigued. ๐ 8. THE UNEXPECTED COST OF PEACE That night, Lord Blackthorn received his envoy's report. He read the proposed charter carefully. Then smiled. "So the kitten's advisers understand the game." His commander frowned. "Shall we reject their terms, my lord?" "No." Blackthorn placed the document aside. "Negotiate." "But insist on clear boundaries and enforceable obligations." "And the Silverriver duchess?" "She will do the same." His commander hesitated. "Then who wins?" Blackthorn looked toward the Northern Forest. "That depends on whether this little kingdom can remain useful to both sides." Back at the Bandit Kingdom... The general was celebrating a successful diplomatic meeting. Lucien was preparing financial projections. The adventurers were unloading gifts from Silverriver. And His Majesty... Was sitting before a mountain of preserved river fish. "MEOW!!!" ๐ฑ๐๐ Translation: FINALLY! A PROPER TRIBUTE! Lucien entered the room. "Your Majesty, those fish are diplomatic gifts. They must be recorded as royal inventory." The kitten froze. "...Meow?" "Yes. Even gifts require accounting." "MEEEEEEOW!!!" ๐พ Translation: THIS IS TYRANNY! But far beyond the royal hall, a more serious question was emerging. Could a tiny neutral kingdom survive between two ambitious powers? And if it could... HOW LONG BEFORE OTHER RULERS BEGAN TO NOTICE?
