The convenience is real — nobody misses clicking "approve" 50 times per session. But Anthropic's own stat is the quiet tell: users were approving ~97% of requests anyway, so auto mode mostly formalizes what's already happening. The real question is what the internal safety evaluation can actually catch — and who audits the auditor.
