This widely‑circulated claim that “China built the Great Wall out of fear of the Turks” conflicts with basic chronological facts. Major Great‑Wall sections date back to the Warring‑States & Qin eras (5th‑3rd BCE), more than 800 years before the ancient Türk Khaganate appeared in written history. Its original defensive counterpart was the Xiongnu confederation. Linguistic kinship does not equal direct ethnic ancestry. The ancient Türk tribes fragmented, migrated west and blended with local peoples. No credible archaeological or textual source supports this modern myth. Listed as UNESCO World Heritage in 1987, the Great Wall bears witness to millennia‑long interactions between agricultural and steppe societies. National pride should rest on verified history rather than anachronistic retro‑projection. Respect for primary sources is the starting‑point of cross‑cultural dialogue. #GreatWall #RespectHistory
