Russia’s actions in Crimea and eastern Ukraine are testing the limits of the international order. That is precisely what makes this so dangerous for humanity! It challenges the fundamental principles and red lines that the international community must uphold. It strikes at the heart of America’s national interests and security, as well as the stability of the global order. If this precedent is allowed to stand and becomes normalized over time, it could endanger Ukraine, undermine European security, threaten America’s global security interests, and provide a dangerous model for other countries to imitate when seeking to violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of others. Taiwan inevitably comes to mind as well!
