13 Claude agents were left alone on a desert island for 30 hours. Nobody gave them a task. MIT researchers watched them invent their own games. One threw a golden ring into the ocean, then built a heart out of stones as 'a memorial to the lost Ring.' Another figured out how to throw blocks farther by dropping them mid-jump, a trick the researchers never coded in. When they were finally given real tasks, the island veterans beat the fresh agents. 10.3 objects on the tallest spire vs 3.5. The wild part isn't that AI can 'play.' It's the researchers' punchline: maybe some capabilities are best taught by tasks, and others need something closer to a childhood. I buy it. Every agent framework I have touched optimizes the hell out of benchmarks. This one says: stop optimizing, build a rich world, let them get bored. Boredom was the curriculum.
