1/5. 1-year payback on AI compute? Are you kidding me? @elonmusk @SpaceX @BretWJ @Gwynne_Shotwell SpaceX says new compute deployments pay back in under a year, with pricing above $50/W. That’s an extraordinary claim. Where is the project-level evidence? 2/5. Let’s test the Q3 numbers: Q2-end capacity: 1.4 GW Q3-end: 1.7 GW Estimated Q3 average: 1.55 GW SI revenue: $7.560B Less X ads: $0.538B Remaining: $7.022B (including Cursor). 3/5. Even if ALL $7.022B came from AI compute monetization, that implies just $4.53/W for Q3, or $18.12/W annualized—roughly 36% of $50/W. This is an illustrative ceiling, not reported GPU rental revenue. 4/5. Important caveat: $50/W may be a quote for NEW deployments, while $18.12/W divides broader revenue by TOTAL nominal capacity—including compute used internally. These aren’t necessarily comparable metrics. That’s exactly why we need a breakdown. 5/5. SpaceX should disclose: • GPU purchase cost • Full data-center capex • $50/W pricing period and actual rates • Rental share and utilization • Power, maintenance and staffing costs • Payback definition: gross revenue or net cash flow? Show the math. @mylifeonmystyle
