Descartes: I Think, Therefore I Am René Descartes decided to question everything he believed. What if his senses were unreliable? What if the world around him was an illusion? What if even his memories were false? After questioning almost everything, he discovered one thing he could not doubt. Even if he was being deceived, he was still thinking. And if he was thinking, he must exist. Life Lesson Never accept an idea simply because everyone around you believes it. Society may tell you what success should look like, how much money you should earn, or what kind of life you should live. But before following those expectations, ask yourself one question. Is this truly what I want?
