Why do some people on X assume that anyone posting in Chinese must be illegally using a VPN from inside China? Have you never heard of Chinese people living abroad? There are Chinese communities in almost every corner of the world. People work, study, travel, and settle overseas. Major cities even have entire neighborhoods called Chinatowns. Yet somehow, the moment you see a Chinese-language post, you assume the person must be secretly climbing over China’s Great Firewall. Some even claim we’re all posting from Chinese prisons. You live in a globalized world, but apparently your understanding of geography hasn’t caught up. Speaking Chinese doesn’t mean living in China. And using X doesn’t require a VPN when you’re already outside China.
