The "competitive eSports as positive signal for startup/tech" thing only works if 1) person was truly elite, full pro, world champion contender or 2) person is from somewhere cold and poor like Europe/Canada without proper access to elite education Otherwise, being top few hundred or 0.1% at a game when you otherwise had the opportunity to excel in more traditionally elite settings and paths just indicates that you're possibly intelligent but definitely lacking in planning, prioritization, higher level executive function.
