I came across a passage that was quite well written. It said: One person waking up is a personal matter; a group of people waking up is a matter of an entire era. If everyone wakes up, that would truly be a world of great harmony. Everyone else is muddling through life, and doing just fine. Yet somehow I’ve caught a glimpse of the truth. I don’t know where the like-minded people are. I feel profoundly lonely. What I want to ask is: Are people like Musk and Trump the ones who have seen—or glimpsed—the truth? And how did they fight their way through all the thorns and obstacles that set them apart from ordinary people, and reach the top? Even after reaching what is called the peak, their words, thoughts, and ways of doing things remain different from most people’s. They continue to grow against the current, living under a flood of public criticism. Why do some people see problems that others cannot see, dare to challenge the rules that most people take for granted, and keep moving forward even amid overwhelming doubt? While others, even if they vaguely sense the problems, ultimately choose to stay silent and blend into the crowd? Not being understood by the majority does not mean someone has seen the truth. Being mocked by the majority does not mean someone is right. What is truly worth studying is why a person is different from others, and whether their judgments ultimately stand the test of reality. So what, exactly, did Musk and Trump see? Musk: Someone unwilling to accept existing rules A striking trait of Musk is that he often tries to re-examine things that others take for granted, starting from first principles. For example: Why do rockets have to be so expensive? Why can’t cars be redesigned around electric power as the core? Why must a large organization continue to operate according to its old processes? What makes him special is not merely proposing different ideas, but being willing to turn those ideas into engineering, capital investment, and commercial practice. Trump: Someone willing to voice discontent publicly He does not primarily change the world through technological innovation, but through political language, personal image, and electoral mobilization, reorganizing the political demands of a portion of Americans. For example, he seized on the dissatisfaction that some voters felt toward globalization, the loss of industry, illegal immigration, and traditional political elites, and gathered these scattered emotions into political force. His manner of expression often fails to conform to the norms of traditional politicians. This style makes some supporters feel that he is straightforward and unconstrained by the establishment, while many critics believe his remarks are inflammatory, exclusionary, and even harmful to public discourse. Musk has at times seen inefficiencies in technological and commercial systems; Trump has at times captured social discontent that traditional political narratives overlooked. But this does not mean their judgments on every issue are correct. A person may see very deeply in one domain while having clear blind spots in another. Why were they able to grow against the current instead of being drowned out by the masses? They not only had different ideas, but also the ability to turn those ideas into reality. They no longer depend on everyone’s understanding and approval. Ordinary people need others’ agreement in order to find the courage to act; those who possess resources, organization, and the capacity for independent action can continue advancing their plans even without the consent of the majority. They are also able to convert conflict into influence. Musk’s remarks, decisions, and management style frequently spark controversy; Trump has long attracted attention through sharply oppositional language.
