When my youngest was still a baby, I was so desperately craving something beautiful that I went to a nearby art museum. I asked the person at the front desk, “Would it be okay if I came in? I'll leave immediately if my baby starts crying.” They looked at me like, “Huh...? Yeah, of course,” almost as if they were thinking, “What on earth is this person talking about?” And strangely enough, that reaction meant the world to me. It made me realize that bringing a baby to an art museum wasn't something I needed to feel apologetic about. That's why I truly hope art museums will always remain places where everyone is welcome.
