Prof Hauge, for whataboutism to work, you have to cite actual parallel situations. There are rigorous debates in the US, Britain, and France about the legacy of Columbus, Churchill and Napoleon. It is not against the laws of US, Britain and France to call them "dictators", or discuss how many people they killed. In China, you can't do the same with Mao, or any other CCP leaders.
