When you code with AI, you're often waiting for it to finish. What do you usually do in those few minutes? Maybe you scroll videos or read a bit. I made a little game, just one more option for that time. It's called Waitwing. It wasn't a game at first. I just wanted system notifications to show up as a little plane towing a banner. Then I saw a video of a plane flying around a world made of blocks, and the first person I thought of was my nephew. He loves that blocky look. So I thought, what if you could fly around right on your own desktop? Here's how it turned out. Click the little plane in your menu bar and it takes a screenshot of whatever's on your screen and turns it into gray land. Wherever you fly, it turns green. The screenshot stays in memory and never gets saved or uploaded. Your Dock icons turn into little pets. Some have a puzzle next to them, and if you solve it, the pet flies with you. When the AI is done, a pigeon flies over to let you know. As I kept working on it, I started thinking, what if landmarks from our own cities were in there too? I figured it'd feel more special that way, like it's a world that's actually about us. So now the game figures out roughly what city you're in and builds a local landmark out of blocks. You're flying along, you spot it, and it's like, hey, that's pretty nice. No coins or shop or anything, you just fly around. It's on Mac and Windows. https://waitwing.5km.tech P.S. This is my entry for the first @Homkathon event.
