charles said he wanted to give the place back to lewis but then max was there so he asked on the radio and they decided to let him stay in place "the penalty was clearly deserved. as for whether it should be five or ten seconds, we need to look at it and understand what the stewards understood about the situation, and what you said about the mitigating circumstances. we both missed the corner. clearly, we both braked too late. then i couldn't make the corner, so i cut it. my initial objective was to give the position back to lewis, but unfortunately, max then slipped in between us. i asked over the radio, but we clearly thought it wasn't clear enough for me to move back into third place. so we stayed in the lead. we'll look at it. i'm sure it'll be one of the talking points, and there'll clearly be a debate at the next drivers' meeting. that's often the case here because the layout of the track allows us to get away with these things."
