You are moving the goalposts and changing the topic. This has nothing to do with the Japanese invasion. When Japan invaded China, it was Chiang Kai-shek's Nationalist Government in power. When the CPC established its regime in 1949, Mao Zedong explicitly promised to build a "New Democratic" nation. That is why I am comparing from 1949—and back then, Japan was even poorer as a defeated nation facing massive war reparations. Yet by 1978, Japan was a developed nation while China's economy was ruined by domestic chaos. Learn some basic history.
