If you're using Codex 6.1, make sure you're using GitHub too. You could save up to 85% on tokens. I wish I'd figured this out sooner. I've wasted so many tokens writing code from scratch. Here's what I do now. I wanted to build a personal knowledge hub, so my first prompt was: "I want to build a personal knowledge hub. First, check GitHub for existing open-source projects." And guess what? Codex actually found one! Instead of building everything from scratch, I could just take an existing project and customize it. Less time. Less money. Fewer wasted tokens. My 3 rules for using Codex: 1. Search GitHub before writing any code. 2. Never rebuild something you can reuse. 3. Let Codex focus only on the missing features. Stop burning tokens reinventing the wheel.
