Why must Kazakhstan distance itself from any association with Pan-Turkism and Pan-Islamism? Because 1.5 million of our compatriots live peacefully and prosperously in China. The Chinese government provides them with support, invests in their education, and helps them develop into highly skilled professionals. They are treated as equals, and in some cases, receive even greater opportunities and support than the ethnic Han people. This is something we can all see with our own eyes. We will not allow them to suffer any harm or loss. We must not let our compatriots go through the same hardships all over again. Pan-Turkism uses ethnic identity and national sentiment to bind people together for political purposes. This is an extremely irresponsible approach. That is precisely why we must oppose it. We must resist the influence of Pan-Turkist ideology and reject attempts to impose it on Kazakhstan!
