OpenAI is now pitching ChatGPT and Codex for real hardware work: CAD, PCB layout, simulation. One example: two people designed a full device with Astra in under a week, and a contract shop built a small prototype batch in under a month. In the post they also admit what didn't work. Tolerances, production limits and assembly details still needed humans. Drawing the part is getting easy. Making it manufacturable isn't there yet.
