I keep coming back to one line in Anthropic's amended IPO filing. It says future models may "imminently" meet its own definition of dramatically accelerated progress from AI, the threshold tied to self-improving research. And in the same filing, Anthropic admits it has in the past not spotted a significant acceleration until after it happened. That second sentence is the one that matters to me. A safety framework is only useful if it trips in real time, not in hindsight. No current model is designated as crossing the line, and the company says it is still assessing the data, so this is not a claim that RSI has arrived. But putting both sentences in a Risk Factors section means investors are now on legal notice: the detector for the riskiest milestone may lag the milestone itself. My read: the honest move is not to argue about whether "imminently" is hype or warning. It is to ask what observable trigger would force a policy update before the next model ships, and who gets to see that data. Until that trigger is public, I will treat every RSI-adjacent claim as a disclosure problem first and a capability claim second. #Anthropic #AI #AISafety https://pondero.ai/news/2026-11-03-anthropic-ipo-self-improvement-risk/
