I think this is terrible advice, especially for young builders. Some of the most interesting things people create begin with curiosity, obsession, or simply the joy of making something. Not a TAM analysis. Not a monetization strategy. Just someone who desperately wants something to exist. Of course, if you're building a business, you eventually need customers willing to pay. But not everything you build needs to become a business. And there's something deeply unfortunate about a generation that has access to the most powerful creative tools in history, yet feels compelled to monetize every experiment, hobby, and curiosity. Sometimes building something useless teaches you more than building something profitable. Sometimes the thing you built for fun becomes valuable precisely because nobody was trying to sell it. Build because you're curious. Build because you care. Build because something deserves to exist. Money can be an outcome. It doesn't always have to be the motivation.
