I keep coming back to one detail in OpenAI buying Pierre Computer. Its Code Storage was already running inside Codex, so OpenAI just bought the ground its own agent stands on. GitHub was built for humans clicking merge. Agent code arrives in bursts, with branches, rollbacks and memory files piling up, and that needs storage built for machines. Owning that layer beats renting it, and Pierre's open source projects staying open tells me this is a land grab, not a shutdown. Terms were not disclosed, so I am not guessing at a price. But if agents end up writing most of the code, who owns the repo layer in the end, the model company or the host?
